VISUAL EFFECTS
During my time at The Mill Chicago, I worked on a variety of broadcast spots that required detailed visual effects (VFX) work. In many of these live-action projects, we were involved from both the pre-production and post-production stages to ensure that any potential clean-up or VFX needs were accounted for in advance. This collaborative approach allowed us to efficiently manage the visual elements and maintain continuity throughout the production process.
One of the key aspects of these projects was handling cleanup work, which involved removing or modifying unwanted elements within the footage to ensure the final product was polished and aligned with the creative vision. Common tasks included:
Removing Unwanted Elements: Eliminating trees, cars, or other distracting objects that could disrupt the scene’s composition.
Updating Signage: Changing logos, signs, or branding elements to reflect updated content or messaging.
Environmental Modifications: Removing or altering physical structures such as windows or walls to ensure consistency or accommodate the vision of the director.
As a Producer, I was responsible for managing several critical aspects of the project, including:
Budget Management: Ensuring that we had the necessary resources to execute the VFX work, while staying within the approved budget.
Scope & Scheduling: Confirming that the scope of the work was clearly defined and aligned with the client’s expectations, and that our schedule allowed for efficient execution.
Client Satisfaction: Overseeing the VFX process to ensure that the client would not notice any missing elements, preserving the seamless nature of the final edit.
Lights were adding to railings and roofs of all townhouses in this spot.
This storefront window was modified to better resemble a Walgreens window.
Signage was also added to this spot.
